In celebration of its 100th anniversary, Holy Trinity will host the Messiah College Concert Choir in concert on April 18, at 4 p.m. Coincidentally, Messiah College also celebrates their centennial year during the 2009-10 school year!
The 53-voice choir conducted by Linda Tedford will present a program of traditional sacred music, including early American sacred pieces and music from the Renaissance through the 20th century, as well as Irish and American folk songs and spirituals. Selected by audition from a student body of 2,800, the Concert Choir has toured the East Coast, including performances at the National Cathedral and the United Nations. International tours have included Austria, the Czech Republic, and Ireland, where they will return this May for a ten day tour.
Tedford is also the founder and conductor of the nationally-recognized Susquehanna Chorale and is responsible for creating the chorale’s educational outreach network of choirs--the Susquehanna Youth, Young Women’s and the Children’s Chorales--based in Hershey.
Founded in 1910, Holy Trinity celebrated the first worship service on August 7. In the ensuing 100 years, Holy Trinity has remained a vital part of the Hershey community where current members are actively involved with internal ministries and committees as well as numerous community relationships.
The concert is free of charge; a free will offering will be received. |
